These experiences capture the authentic flavors of Uruguay, featuring a variety of grilled meats, locally sourced vegetables, and fresh seafood or meat cooked over an open flame. The meals are accompanied by wines from our VIK vineyard in Chile, enhancing the culinary experience with expertly paired selections.”

Carrie Vik: “I love the asados not just for the wonderful food and wine but for their communal nature. They bring people together, allowing guests to share in the local tradition while enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings. How do you like to start your day at Vik José Ignacio?

Carrie Vik: “My perfect day at Vik José Ignacio starts by touching base with nature by walking the Mansa beach and taking a swim before having a green drink and fresh fruit at Playa Vik’s gluten free restaurant or Bahia’s Zodiaco. I then head to a morning yoga session at The Shack Wellness at Bahia Vik. After yoga and touching base with my team I head to La Susana to meet my family or friends for a delicious healthy lunch with my feet in the sand. For me there is nothing better than this!”

Carrie Vik: “Every guest at Vik José Ignacio should not miss the chance to take a Sunset or Full Moon horseback ride through Estancia Vik while the sun sets, and the moon rises. The ride takes us to the banks of the José Ignacio River where a traditional barbecue and gaucho music awaits. This experience offers an opportunity to connect with the region’s gaucho heritage while enjoying a sense of freedom and adventure, making it a truly memorable and quintessential part of the Vik José Ignacio experience.”

Carrie Vik: “As a result, I have done my best to respond in kind. I adore the local culture and its traditions. I have worked hard to incorporate art, traditional craftsmanship and materials into the retreat’s design, reflecting the area’s cultural richness. Working with so many Uruguayan artists and artisans over so many years have given us a deep connection to the local artistic scene.

I also value community involvement, supporting charities, local events, festivals, and sustainability initiatives. By integrating elements of José Ignacio’s lifestyle and culture into the guest experience, my aim is to share the authenticity of the region and its people, creating a meaningful bond between the retreats and the local community.”
